Eduard Brassin F4U-1 Propeller (for the Tamiya kit)
1:48 Scale

vol_2_image

Tamiya’s 1:32 scale F4U-1 Corsair kit is a touchstone of modern kit manufacturing and ranks as one of the very best injection-molded kits ever produced.  Yet, there’s even more detail that you can squeeze into this extraordinary kit.  Eduard produces a number of resin, photoetched metal, and Brassin detail sets for the F4U-1, F4U-1A, and F4U-1D.  Here, we take a look the Brasin 1:32 scale F4U-1 propeller set.

The Corsair was designed to accommodate the ultra-powerful Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine that sported what was then the largest diameter propeller ever fitted to a fighter.  The classic inverted gull-wing kept the landing gear as short as possible while providing ground clearance for the big prop.  This Brassin set is simple, consisting of four resin-cast parts (propeller hub and three propeller blades), and a resin propeller alignment jig.

This Eduard Brassin set has some advantages over the exceptional plastic parts in the kit. For one, the casting quality on all the parts is flawless and the shape and size of the parts appear to be perfect.  The detail on the propeller hub is better than that in the kit.  There’s also no molding seam to sand down on the edges of the prop blades as one would have to do with the kit parts.  The alignment jig also helps ensure perfect geometry of the individual propeller blades.

Overall, this is a great Brassin set for the 1:32 scale Tamiya F4U-1 Corsair.  We extend our sincere thanks to Eduard for the review sample. You can visit them on the web at http://www.eduard.com and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/
