Eduard Photoetched Metal Detail and Masking Sets for the ICM MiG-25RBT Kit -- 1:72 Scale

vol_2_image

For a long time, the only 1:72 scale MiG-25 was the Hasegawa kit that went all the way back to tooling from 1978.  In 2008, ICM released a new series of 1:72 scale Foxbats, and then revisited them again with another new-tool family of MiG-25s beginning in 2018.  Here, we look at two of the Eduard sets for the 1:72 scale ICM MiG-25 RBT reconnaissance aircraft.

Eduard # SS 649 MiG-25RBT ZOOM:  The kit cockpit is okay for 1:72 scale, but certainly, these PE parts can really enhance the Foxbat’s interior.  This ZOOM set features one partly pre-painted color fret containing 43 parts.  The parts include total replacements for the pilot’s instrument panel and side consoles (nice improvements there), rudder pedals, rear view mirrors, the seat cushion, ejection seat harnesses, and ejection seat harnesses.  The radio sets and radar gear in the back seat also get PE replacements.  There’s a high level of detail here, from the precision-painted instrument dial faces to the arrays of switches, knobs, instrument panel features, and other details.

Eduard # SS 649 MiG-25RBT:  This set is the full detail deal.  It contains the cockpit ZOOM set as described above along with one additional unpainted fret containing 94 parts.  These additional parts provide more cockpit details such as the cockpit sill and canopy inner frame.  A few exterior airframe details are also provided such as a few antennas, but this second fret really concentrates on nose and main wheel gear and gear wells along with the afterburners and engine nozzles.  There are a lot of significant and great-looking structural enhancements to the gear wells and gear well doors with these PE parts.  The engine aft turbine faces and afterburner flame holders look quite well done, too.

Either of these photoetched metal detail sets will add some great features and depth of detail to your 1:72 scale ICM MiG-25RBT project.

We extend our sincere thanks to Eduard for the review sample. You can visit them on the web at http://www.eduard.com and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/
