Eduard MiG-29UB Interior for the Tamiya Kit
1:32 Scale

vol_2_image

In late 2017, Trumpeter released a new issue of their 1:32 scale MiG-29UB kit.  The UB variant of the Fulcrum, of course, is the two-seat trainer variant of the famous lightweight Soviet/Russian jet fighter that was to be the answer to the USAF’s F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Trumpeter’s MiG-29UB has earned a fairly good reputation in most scale modeling circles, but you can always add more detail and improve upon the kit’s cockpit.  Eduard’s recent release of a very thorough photoetched metal detail set for this kit’s interior comes to the rescue for those scale modelers interested in adding some very high-fidelity detail to their two-seat Fulcrum cockpit.

This set contains three frets.  Two are pre-painted frets, with the first containing 88 parts and the second containing 102 parts.  Approximately 90 % feature pre-painted details on each pre-painted fret.  These include the instrument dial faces treated with Eduard’s raised glass effect, side consoles, displays, circuit breakers, rudder pedals, ejection seat details, throttles, rear-view mirrors, lots of cockpit sidewall details, canopy frame details, various knobs, handles, and even tiny data placards.  There are many, many fine parts here, so use caution when handling so as not to lose them.  The second pre-painted fret covers many of the same parts but for the rear cockpit configuration and LOTS of other ancillary details that add many small and sublime features.

The third fret is unpainted and is about the size of the first two if they were put together, thought there’s only 33 parts here.  It provides large PE elements for the cockpit floors, walls, and side console walls.  There are also two ejection seat frames/guiderails.

Overall, this set is a knock-out.  The level of detail is far superior and more accurate than what the kit provides.  The quality is excellent.  The photoetched metal production process and the pre-painting is flawless and it is also very, very detailed.  This is some serious metal, and these parts are a treat to the eyes.  This set will bring some great, attention-grabbing details to your big two-seat MiG-29UB.  Great work, again, Eduard!

While not reviewed here, the reader may also want to take a look at Eduard’s MiG-29UB ejection seat set HERE:  https://www.eduard.com/store/eduard/mig-29ub-seatbelts-steel-1-32.html?cur=2 .  It the only thing you’d need to top off the details in the cockpit.

We extend our sincere thanks to Eduard for the review sample.  You can visit them on the web at http://www.eduard.com and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/
