AFTERMARKET REVIEW

Eduard Fw 190A-8/R2 Detail Set for the Revell Kit
1:32 Scale

vol_2_image

Revell of Germany (now, just Revell) has been slowly releasing a series of rather well-done Fw 190 kits in 1:32 scale.  In 2019, their Fw 190A-8/R2 appeared on the scene.  We reviewed this kit several months ago (and you can read our write-up HERE).  The kit has a decent cockpit for a 1:32 scale injection molded kit, but Eduard has recently produced a photoetched metal cockpit detail set that provides a depth and quality of detail light-years beyond the kit.

This set contains two photoetched metal frets.  The first is mostly pre-painted and contains 32 parts.  These are replacements for the kit’s instrument panel, side consoles, rudder pedals, and many other small cockpit details such as the trim wheel and multiple small handles and knobs.  The quality of the pre-painting is generally exquisite.  The instruments dial faces look great (a few, though, appear a little bit generic to me) and have been treated with Eduard’s “raised glass” effect.

The second fret is unpainted and has another 26 parts.  These provide superdetailed parts for the canopy decking, canopy and canopy frame, and various little odds and ends for the instrument panel coaming, pilot’s seat, and sidewalls.

Overall, this is a really solid set to elevate the level of cockpit detail for your 1:32 scale Revell Sturmbock.

We extend our sincere thanks to Eduard for the review sample.  You can visit them on the web at http://www.eduard.com and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/
